Thank you for visiting DUNAS.COM
When you click on the Welcome Button to begin your visit, you will
have a choice of seeing my commercial work
or my fine art work.
There is a hierarchical order to this site.
In each area of the site, you start at the first page and by clicking on
the word "NEXT" at the map bar on the bottom of the page, you will be taken to the next page in the sequence.
You may, however, want to "surf" around randomly.
This is possible by clicking on the "SITEMAP" button.
This will take you to a page of links that allows you to quickly jump around the site in any direction you desire.
Additionally, as a graphic solution to too much type on a page, there is frequently an OPTION button on pages.
By clicking here, you will see options relating to the series you are looking at such as technical information on
the specific series, links to order forms, links to my representatives and other pertinent information.
This site is being updated weekly so please stop in often and check out the new pages we have in store for you.
The fine art area presently contains
examples from many of my series: Disappearing America, Fine Art Nudes,
Blues Legends ,
The Blue Highway, The Flea Market Essay, The Laura Series, Weddings, The Havana Essay,
Street Pictures and Personal Portrait Projects. .
I hope you enjoy this work.
In the commercial world I am an editorial and advertising photographer
working in the portrait, beauty
and reportage areas.
My personal pursuits
include nudes, portraits and documentary photography.
I have been photographing nudes for over twenty years.
This has been a dominant personal fine-art pursuit
and a long and
satisfying photographic exploration.
I have chosen examples from my "Blue Series
1982-1990 as well as some recent examples
from the Duo-tone series that represent the direction I have
taken since approximately 1988.
In the weeks to come, you will see early work from my books Captured
Women (1982),
Mademoiselle, Mademoiselle! (1983) and Voyeur (1984).
Portraits are a very fulfilling photographic direction for me.
One of the
aspects of portraiture that pleases
me enormously is its ability to freeze
time, allowing observation that would not be possible in reality.
I like to allow my subjects to simply look at me, in turn allowing
those viewing the work to simply look
at the subject.
I have chosen
examples of my commissioned portraits as well as several series
of work
created strictly for myself.
I will add new work on an on-going basis to these areas of the site.
Unlike many photographers, when I seek diversion, I seek it with
a camera.
I have been shooting
street pictures in Paris, New
York and elsewhere for fifteen years at every opportunity.
I'm happy when I'm shooting and even happier
when I'm printing.
I print all my personal work myself
and supervise
my assistants or lab technicians when the work is a commercial
assignment.
I have built a
sophisticated darkroom and soon
there will be photos of my lab with diagrams on this site for
those of you
interested in conventional gelatin-silver printmaking.
I do no computer imaging other than that necessary
to maintain
this website or to satisfy a commercial client..
I admit to not being remotely interested in
using
computers to create original images.
Last but not least, as the former editor and publisher of Collectors
Photography Magazine, I have made
interviews with a large number
of wonderful photographers including Helmut Newton, David Bailey,
Ralph Gibson
and Robert Mapplethorpe to name a few. All these
articles will be available on this site in the coming months.

The initial design for this website was created by the great
webman, Gary Wagner. Gary works seven
days a week, both as a web designer and playing blues on his own internet station -
you can hear him hosting his amazing program, "Wagman Blues.Com "
